Academics

Global Education

Roma’s system successfully prepares children for any system they might transfer to globally – in both Arabic and English.

Our holistic approach to teaching means we build character and work closely with home to ensure all children have the opportunity to learn.

Our joint educational philosophies are:

No child left behind and; push our gifted and talented children.

This process happens over years of continuity, engagement of the children and parents and supporting our learners to help themselves.

When we hold our children to the highest expectations, they want to deliver.

Differentiation

Our academic Learning Management System allows parents to communicate with teachers directly and to follow their children’s progress as they learn.

IXL: This system allows children to hone their mathematical skills at differentiated levels.

Oxford Reading Buddy: Children can access the entire Oxford Reading Tree on this application which allows them to read at their own pace, tests their comprehension and has audio files to help them hear the correct pronunciation.

Our children are able to read according to global standards.

Our Early Years programme follows the English system, while ensuring the cultural norms of the Middle East are learned about and respected.

Our learners explore the areas of:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Communication and Language, Creative Design, Physical Development, Numeracy and Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

In addition, the children learn Religious Studies and Arabic.

Every year we increase the responsibilities at school for the children so they learn tenacity and independence.

For pre-school children, parents are given weekly feedback about their child’s progress.

Parent-teacher meetings are held twice a year.

Our system will immerse them in English in their first two years while they learn to read using the Jolly Phonics system in Pre-Reception class.

Arabic is introduced as a separate subject in Reception class, helping the children to read using a phonics system devised by the school.

Religious Studies is taught from pre-school. For our Muslim learners, this includes stories, Qur’anic memorization and the Islamic way of life.

Our British head, Mrs Opheera McDoom, is a trainer for the Jolly Phonics company, with years of experience in the UK and Middle East.

This means our teachers benefit from the highest levels of coaching and pedagogy.

Roma’s exceptional reading system enables our children to read at the highest levels in both English and Arabic, while fostering a love of reading as we introduce the children to books of various genres from our substantial library.

Our primary curriculum seamlessly blends the English and Cambridge frameworks along with the Egyptian curriculum and will include:

English, Science, Maths, Arabic, Religious Studies, Art, Physical Education (P.E.), Social Studies, Geography and ICT.

Our children will take the lower secondary checkpoint exam to help prepare them and study towards the IGCSEs and A levels.

We use the Cambridge (CIE), Oxford/AQA and Pearson/Edexcel exam boards.

The Cambridge International curriculum focuses on the core subjects of: Math, English and Sciences.

The non-core subjects we offer include economics, accounting, environmental management, business studies, Arabic and ICT.

We follow the statutory curriculum of the ministry of education for Arabic, religion and social studies.
